Oakmont Lounge (Decentralised world)

Welcome to the Oakmont Lounge - a fully decentralised 3D world built in Unity where blockchain meets immersive design. This isn’t just a virtual space; it’s an ecosystem for the Oakmont Coin, a new, custom ERC-20 token built on Ethereum. 

More than just a crypto lounge, Oakmont is a marketplace where real-world products and assets can be listed, tokenized, and traded securely on-chain. Smart contracts manage listings, ownership transfers, and transaction verifications - creating a transparent space for asset exchange. With features like NFT-based proof of ownership, token-gated access, and real-time wallet integration, the Oakmont Lounge bridges the gap between physical value and digital innovation.

The world can be customised in any visual style for decentralised events and experiences. For my Approaches to Play 2 module at university, I used it to build the “Museum of Me” - a solo project that I really enjoyed. Although I didn’t manage to find a team to collaborate with, which meant I couldn’t complete all the interactions and touchpoints I originally envisioned, it became an opportunity to push my individual skills further.

The world features a mix of assets - some I designed myself, others I sourced - each chosen with intention and personal meaning. From my passion for cars and crypto to a fascination with sharks, every element reflects a part of who I am. For future development, I’d love to evolve the space into a more museum-like experience by integrating informative UI panels for each asset and creating a clearer, more linear pathway through the world, guiding visitors through the narrative in a more immersive and structured way.

One of the most challenging yet rewarding parts was designing and implementing the third-person walk cycle in Unity. I even captured my own motion data using my universities OptiTrack system, which I plan to integrate into the experience. I’d love to expand the walk cycle by adding interactive animations, such as holding a mobile device (integrated with a crypto wallet UI), enabling seated poses and a greetings wave.

The Oakmont Lounge is currently more of an MVP than a finished product, but there is real growth potential.This has been a solo project so far, but I’m now looking to bring a few teammates on board — especially those with technical expertise — to help take the Oakmont Lounge to the next level. My previous virtual world, The Flawless-verse (on WebGL), was used by Flawless AI themselves for a decentralised film screening and was a real success - which gives me confidence in the future growth of The Oakmont Lounge.
